One of the nice things about working, opposed to studying, is that I now don’t feel guilty about not spending all my time working on coursework. Time for a hobby!
Living 15 minutes walk from Cambridge Airport I quite often see people learning to fly, and thought it looked like fun — so decided to start myself on a course to gain a PPL (Private Pilots License). It should take around 50 hours of flying time, and 8 exams on topics ranging from Radio Communication to Meteorology, to gain my license.
Here are some photos from my first flight out:
My tutor, Vanessa, said I seemed to have a natural talent for it, and even allowed me to make the final approach to landing — only taking control from me when 10ft from the ground — perhaps all those video game hours have finally paid off.
I have another lesson on Sunday and cannot wait!
