On the Windows Phone Marketplace I upload Applications under the name Brownsoft — A mixture of my Surname, Brown, and the word Software. Up until now I haven’t had a logo, but I decided I wanted one for the splashscreen of my upcoming game, Sweepy Cleaner.
I asked my friend Shaun if he could use his immense graphic design skills to make me a logo, I gave him the following brief “My marketplace name is “Brownsoft”, I was thinking of having an all white logo (metro style) based around the beta symbol.” I wanted the logo to be all white so that I could easily shine different colours onto it in XNA to make it dynamically change colour to that of the phones current theme, which you can see in the above video.
I wanted it to be based around the beta symbol because it is in the shape of a B, and has the obvious link with my name and Brownsoft, but also because its an important computer science symbol and term.
To accompany the logo another of my friends, Shane, developed a 1.5 second jingle. This plays when a user opens my application on the splash screen — which itself lasts 1.5 seconds. you can hear this in the video.
You’ll be able to download a version of Sweepy Cleaner to enjoy the logo for yourself some time next week, until then check out the above video 🙂
